This Toki has been carved from a very unique light coloured Pounamu stone that was found in the 1970’s by Ken Landaus in the Spoon River -possibly the lightest coloured Pounamu ever found in New Zealand. This beautiful Toki measuring approximately 8 X 3.5cm is the colour of the Okarito lagoon on the tidal turn-the iron darker marking are reminiscent of reflections of mountains and a large bird’s flight perhaps a Pouākai surveying the swamp. Carved by Jeremy Dalzell.
